User Experience Design or UXD/UED refers to the process of designing a product/service (in this case, a website) that is useful, convenient, and fun to interact with. Its sole purpose is to enhance the experience that people have while interacting with your website.

While it cannot directly influence your website’s ranking and SEO, providing potential customers with great user experience can help reduce the bounce rate of your landing pages.

How can you improve your website’s UXD?
While there are some who will read through the content of the website, the majority of users who visit your website are often in a hurry to find what they need. Hence, you need to make sure that the goal of each page is clear and easy to achieve.
Ensure the Main Menu is always accessible
To provide better user experience, make the menu visible and accessible throughout the website. This makes it easier to find other pages or products/services that they may be interested in.
Make sure the content is easy to read
As mentioned above, not all users are willing to read everything on the page. This is why it is important to make your content easy on the eyes. Don’t hesitate to use negative space to make the content look organised and easy to read.
Use H1 and H2 headings, bold/italic text to further organise the content and stress more important points. Using different headings allow users who scan the page to quickly find what they are looking for. If there are links on the page, be sure to highlight them to make them easier to find. It is also important to make sure that the keywords you use to attach the link matches with the content of the page you are linking to. Otherwise, it will fail to fulfil the user’s expectations.
Nowadays, several users use their mobile devices to access the internet to find the products/services they need. Hence, it is important to make sure that the mobile version of your website is easy to navigate and interact with.
Improve page loading speed
Some studies found that several users often leave the website if the page takes more than 3 seconds to load. Even if you provide users with high quality and relevant content, if it takes too long to load, your potential customers will still abandon the pages to look for products/services elsewhere. It is ideal to make sure that the website loads in three seconds once the users open the page. If this is not possible, make sure that you provide them with something relevant to keep them on the page.
Ensure all buttons are working properly
Consider the position of buttons and tap targets in your overall design. Always check if all the buttons are working properly and are linked to the right pages. Make sure that other tap targets in the website are not too close to each other, making it easier for users to proceed to the page they wish to visit.
Provide good quality visuals
When adding images to the page, check if the quality of the image is not compromised on both versions. Test the mobile version of the website to see if the image loads and is displayed properly. If the image contains text, make sure it is readable without requiring the users to zoom in (when possible).
